Okay, not necessarily popular demand. But i'm just moving all this shizer over to a free blog space.

This is just a quick line to let you all know that within the next few days my blog will be no more. There isn't too much reason for this, other than the fact that i'm just not all that into it anymore. But, here are a couple more reasons....
1. I just bought a condo and really need to cut back on money. The fact of the matter is that the apprx. $70 i spend a year on this blog could go to much better places, such as a full DirectTV bill.
2. My job just fucked me on my raise. They are now only giving raises to all employees at year's end. So, instead of receiving more cash on my 1 year anniversary (August 15th), i'm now going to have to wait until January 1st.
3. I originally intended this blog to be more about my opinions than just giving away free music. But, alas, i'm not a consistant writer. I rarely, if ever, give an actual post that revolves around pure writing. The world has an infinite number of free music blogs, and i feel mine is just another in the bunch.
4. I get all my posts from other websites and then just repost the best of the crop. You can easily find all the same stuff i post by visiting these particular blogs:
5. I'm lazy. I'd rather spend my time doing nothing at all.
So thank you to everybody who's been stopping by...120,000 of you in the past 8 months to be exact. I hope you all visit the many other sites that are out there like mine.
And remember, you should never feel guilty about getting music for free. All the money that is made by record sales goes straight to the big record companies. You're average band only recieves about 70 cents per CD sold. Then they have to split that scrap 4 ways. Do the math.
If you want to support the artists you love, be sure to go see them live when they hit your city. And definitely be sure to spend some of your hard earned cash on their merchandise.
Don't get me wrong, they are not a bad band by any means. But for some reason, it just does very little for me. I bought this CD a couple years ago, listened to it twice, and then sold it on ebay.
For me it's like, if i want to listen to the Jam, i'll just go right ahead and listen to The Jam.
Speaking of which, you should listen to the Jam.
All the Camera Obscura albums kinda blend together into one long album in my mind.
I always love half the songs, and then skip the rest. But the half i listen to (the more uptempo stuff) is absolutely top notch.
Outtakes and throwaways from the Illinois sessions.
Out of the songs, i'd say that about 50% are absolute Sooyahn classics. The other half makes sense to me why he didn't originally release them.
But that great 50% is nearly an entire albums worth of perfect songs.
He can do very little wrong in my book.
Definitely one of the most improved bands of the current year. The first Loose Fur album was way too artsy fartsy and long winded for me. This album finds them with shorter songs and a much more straight forward rock style.
It isn't one of the year's best by any means. However, we're talking about Jeff Tweedy here. He sounds better when he's taking a shit than most bands do on their best albums.
It's a solid 7 of an album that's nice to keep on in the background.
Who is my favorite band of all time? THE ZOMBIES.
Here is a good place to start with them if you aren't a fan yet. If you like it, i highly suggest running out and buying "Oddessey and Oracle" and "Begin Here". Or if you want to save a little bit of time, i also highly recommend "The Singles: A's and B's".
Here's an exciting one for you. If you don't have it, i highly recommend you download it before the opendir dies out. I personally have the original, but not this extended reissue. So i shall be getting it and updating my ipod accordingly.
Personally, I'm not all that into them.
It's like, if i want to listen to Joy Division or Echo and the Bunnymen....i'll just go all out and listen to Joy Division or Echo and the Bunnymen.
Plus the bassist has herpes and wear's a gun holster on stage. Lame, dude, lame.
I posted Appetite a while back, but the link has long since died. Here's a fresh link. Also in the PD is a link the the Lies album.
Awww man. I'd love the have the "pre-cornrows" axl back.
And just to reiterate, if Slash isn't in the band, you can't call it Guns 'n Roses.
When i was around 16, i worshipped Low. I still like them, but the love has died a little. "Long Division" and "The Curtain Hits the Cast" are two albums that are hard to top.
This is their latest. They went faster/more electric on this one. Personally, I don't think it works. But their are still some killer tracks on it.
One of the best band names in rock history.
One of the best album titles in rock history.
Great band in general, but definitely an acquired taste. They're a very influential noise-based grindcore band. If that sounds like your cup of tea, go get it.
It's also cool to have them in your ipod. Because then, when friends and family scroll through your library to see what you have, they will at some point see the words "ANAL CUNT". I love that.
Sufjan's first "great" album.
Check the parent directory for the Illinois album as well.
This is probably my favorite MF's album. As far as everything that Merritt has ever released, the title probably goes to "Wasp's Nest". But as far as just this one project goes, i don't think it gets any better than this. "Famous" is one of the best album openers ever.
I personally think that if you're already buying 2 CDs worth of the Clash, you might as well just go out and buy their first 3 albums instead. That's just my opinion.
I guess this is a good starting point for people who haven't gotten into them yet.
I love NYC (i've lived within a half hour of it my whole life). But I have to admit, these ads promoting Philadelphia as a cheaper alternative are right on the money. These ad execs are actually quite clever.
Make sure you keep scrolling down in order to see all of them...
I've never been all that into the Rolling Stones. Yes, I know it's almost sacregilious.
I'm sure that someday they'll click with me. Until then, I'll wait.
This is the album most critics say is their best. I'm gonna put in on my ipod and give it another chance.
I'm going to be brutally honest. I think that DCFC blow goats. They are one of the worst bands around right now.
Rarely does a band come along that is more bland, predictable and derivitive. I don't understand why people like them.
Then why am i posting this? I have no idea. I guess it's this feeling of finding it for free and feeling slightly guitly about holding it back from other people purely based upon my own biases. I just figured that the musical tastes of some of my visitors seem to be in line with this band.
They suck. But download their crap if you want.
This is by far the best Faith No More album. As you listen to it, you can physically hear Mike Patton coming into his own as an artist. It was all shits n giggles up until then. But at this point, when Mike pretty much took control of the entire band, you notice that their is something much more immediate going on.
There are so many great songs on here. If you've ever had any interest in hearing more by them, this is the place to go.
Hot action right here. Imagine stoner rock if it was a little faster.
Blah blah blah. Just download it.
Remember way back when i started this here site and would try to post a "Link of the Day" every day? I do to. Why did i stop doing it? i don't know.
When i read this, it reminded me that i need to start doing it again.
If you listen to rock music of any kind, this is a set of discs that must be in your collection.
Don't have them? Seriously? Geez.
Go find any book about the history of rock and roll and turn to the first page of the first chapter. Right there you will find information about this guy.
AND WE'RE BACK!
I loved the Black Sheep Boy LP and Appendix EP they released last year. It appears all their stuff gets better and better with every release.
This is an EP of theirs from way back in 2000. Check it out. Let me know if it deserves a place on the ipod.
Here is one of the best albums of last year.
Imagine if Bruce Springsteen were younger and the leader of an indie rock bar band.
Sound confused? Just download it. I guarantee 100% satisfaction or your money back!
Also, i'm heading down to FLA tonight. Don't expect any updates until the middle of next week.
So the indie rock radio station on Sirius Satellite Radio (Channel 26 called "Left of Center") plays this band a lot. I've been liking them and thinking that i need to give their stuff a spin.
Now i can, and so can you...
I like John Darnielle, i really do. But at this point, the mountain goats have just gotten so redundant. The world does not need 100 MG albums.
However, the world definitely needs more Extra Glenns albums. So John, give Franklin Bruno a call and start hooking that up. It's not like he's done anything significant lately.
Here's another fresh link to an album i've already posted before.
Many consider it to be the greatest indie rock masterpiece of all time.
I wouldn't go that far. But it is a must own.
