When i was 12 or 13, this was my favorite album.
Many years removed from then, this album still holds up beautifully.
This is one of those albums that pretty much everybody owns.
But in case you missed the boat...
Here's a fresh link to this album as well.
I like the Walkmen plenty much, but this album does not live up to their previous efforts.
Here's a fresh link for this album.
Don't get me wrong, they are not a bad band by any means. But for some reason, it just does very little for me. I bought this CD a couple years ago, listened to it twice, and then sold it on ebay.
For me it's like, if i want to listen to the Jam, i'll just go right ahead and listen to The Jam.
Speaking of which, you should listen to the Jam.
All the Camera Obscura albums kinda blend together into one long album in my mind.
I always love half the songs, and then skip the rest. But the half i listen to (the more uptempo stuff) is absolutely top notch.
Outtakes and throwaways from the Illinois sessions.
Out of the songs, i'd say that about 50% are absolute Sooyahn classics. The other half makes sense to me why he didn't originally release them.
But that great 50% is nearly an entire albums worth of perfect songs.
He can do very little wrong in my book.
Props to Zack for bringing this one to my attention.
Guess what...it IS funny!
Okay, that was a horribly obvious pun.
If you're into sarcastic, liberal, offensive comedy, you'll probably be into him.
Definitely one of the most improved bands of the current year. The first Loose Fur album was way too artsy fartsy and long winded for me. This album finds them with shorter songs and a much more straight forward rock style.
It isn't one of the year's best by any means. However, we're talking about Jeff Tweedy here. He sounds better when he's taking a shit than most bands do on their best albums.
It's a solid 7 of an album that's nice to keep on in the background.
